Tiny Tummy Tips, Issue #53--Must Know Info About Weight Loss

Seeing numbers go down on the scale is exciting and encouraging, I know!

However, on your journey towards a healthier, happier life, the term "weight loss" is often used interchangeably to mean "fat loss."

And unfortunately, that’s not necessarily always the case.

Weight Loss Is NOT the Same Things as Fat Loss

Weight loss can be:

• Water loss
• Muscle loss
• Fat loss

When You Lose Weight FAST, You’re Likely Losing Muscle

Or water.

If it’s water, no biggie. Water comes and goes.

If it’s muscle loss, it’s a big deal.

Your muscle weight is directly correlated with your metabolism! So it’s important to try and keep as much muscle as possible after surgery.

How to minimize muscle loss you ask? Meet your minimum daily protein goal and do strength exercises 2-3 days per week.

Fat Loss

The only way to really and truly lose body fat is to CONSISTENTLY reduce your calories.

Calories Matter

Fat loss is a gradual process that’s gonna require your patience and perseverance. Each pound of body fat contains approximately 3500 calories.

So, achieving significant fat loss requires repeated calorie deficit over an extended period. You’re in for a marathon, not a sprint!

Your surgery (theoretically) helps you reduce calories by reducing your portions. But it IS possible to outsmart your surgery and over consume calories, despite having a smaller stomach.

Why Am I Telling You This?

I want you to know that true success lies in the pursuit of fat loss, not mere weight loss, and I think it’s critical to understand the difference!
